A play written by Palmer’s College student, Alex Lawler, is set to take to the stage next week.
Alex’s play, The Dating Game, is a comedy that follows the fortunes of a man who joins a dating agency and ends up going on a series of increasingly bad blind dates in his quest for love.
Alex, a 16 year old A-level student from Stanford-le-Hope, also has a part in the production, and said, “I’m really happy to see something I’ve written being performed. I’ve always been interested in writing and it’s gratifying to see that I’m doing well.”
The Dating Game is one of two plays being performed by Thurrock Youth Theatre at Thameside Theatre on 25 and 26 November.
Mark Vinall, Principal of Palmer’s College said, “Writing a play is no small feat, but to also get involved in its production, as well as being part of the cast, is a great achievement. All of us at Palmer’s College wish Alex and the rest of the Thurrock Youth Theatre the best of luck with their performances.”
The production will take place on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 November at Thameside Theatre, Orsett Road, Grays, Essex, RM17 5DX from 19.30. Tickets are £8 (£6 concession) and are available from the Box Office on 0845 300264.
