St Mary’s primary has perfect score as SATS results published

A TILBURY primary school was celebrating today after achieving a perfect score in their SATS results.

St Mary’s Catholic primary school in Calcutta Road, Tilbury achieved the highest mark in the borough with 100% of the pupils achieving Level 4 in both English and Maths.

The school also came top with the Contextual Value Added (CVA) score of 103.6.

Speaking to YourThurrock, headteacher Jonathan Shields explained how the school achieved their success.

He said: “We get everybody involved, especially the parents. We feel it is vital to give the parents a sense of empowerment.

“There is also breakfast clubs and extra tuition to help the students. They have taken up the offer and it speaks for themselves.

“We are fortunate in having a settled team of excellent teachers and assistants.

“Most of all, the students worked hard. We asked them to believe in themselves and they have produced fantastic results.”
