South Essex students spread Christmas cheer to local elderly

RETAIL students from the Thurrock Campus made up several Christmas hampers for the local elderly at an elderly day care centre in South Ockendon so they too can have a nice meal at Christmas.

Whilst some are tucking into their turkey others are struggling to have something basic to eat let alone a Christmas dinner, that’s where the Retail students come in! The group made 10 Christmas hampers, with helpful donations from both staff and students from across all three Campuses as well as putting on a raffle with all the proceeds going to Jack Evans Court

Jack Evans Court opened in 1987 for those aged 60 plus. Since then it has been a huge success and two residents, Rose Farrow, 84, and Ruby Pammen, 89, have been there since the home opened.

All the appreciative residents agreed on the fact that it was a great thing what students were doing’ and how the students will make a big difference to their Christmas Day this year.
