Do you have any unwanted Christmas gifts or items you no longer need?
As part of the Beat the Credit Crunch roadshow events Thurrock Council and its partners are holding a Give and Take Day on Saturday, 22 January between 11am and 2pm at Purfleet Primary School, Tank Lane, Purfleet.
Bring along items you do not need anymore between 11am and12.30pm and pick up something for yourself between 12.30pm and 2pm. All for free!
If unwanted presents, toys, books, kitchenware, old keyboards or electrical appliances permanently clutter your cupboards, this is a chance to clean them out, and possibly get something you actually need in return.
Give and Take Days are a community waste exchange events organised to promote the three Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle.
By re-using things instead of throwing them away, we save on landfill space, reduce fly-tipping and help save valuable resources. Give and Take Days also offer people on low incomes the chance to pick up household items they may need.
The purpose of the Beat the Credit Crunch events is to offer help, advice and information to the community on how get through tough economic times. As well as furniture and bric-a-brac, there will be a number of partner organisations on hand to offer advice and information on benefits, debt, energy efficiency, employment and training, health and wellbeing, transport, Thurrock’s Credit Union and more.
