REAL prison officers, a prison cell and actual prisoners will give pupils at Thurrock Schools a taste of how crime can really affect their lives.
Prison! Me! No Way! is a highly successful crime prevention workshop which will visit Hassenbrook and Gable Hall School, Corringham, thanks to funding from the Thurrock Community Safety Partnership.
Volunteer prison officers take the pupils through a number of scenarios throughout the day when they are treated like “actual prisoners” to understand what the loss of freedom and dignity is really like.
The day is run by educational charity The No Way Trust which was established to make an impact on young people about how committing a crime can affect their whole future life choices.
During the day workshops will also be run by Essex Fire and Rescue Service and Essex Police, particularly focusing on Anti-social Behaviour and how it can affect the lives of so many – both victims and perpetrators.
