Youth threw scalding water over mother

A GRAYS youth pled guilty to scalding his mother with boiling water as subjected his family to a terrifying ordeal.

The court heard that on the 10th December, last year, the 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, became involved in a very heated argument with his father at their home in Grays.

Chair of magistrates, Paul Brandis heard that the youth called his father, “A nonce, a paedophile and a rapist.”

The youth flew off into a rage and began to throw a number of items around the house.

His father ushered other members of the family away from the scene whilst his mother tried to placate him.

He picked up a kettle full of boiling water and threw it. The water scalded the mother. He hit her again and she dropped to the floor.

The youth left the house where he was later apprehended by the police.

In mitigation, his lawyer explained that there were a number of substantial problems in the home that contributed to the incident.

The youth was made subject to a nine month referral order.
