Don’t let these dark winter days let you down, get a real tonic of laughs from the 10th to the 12 Feb with Thurrock Courts Players latest production “ Not Now Darling”.
Its by the masters of farce Ray Cooney and John Chapman and is at the Thameside Theatre
It is set in the late sixties in a elegant West End salon where the hilarious results of one of the owners attempts at infidelity with an exotic dancer while his wife is on holiday, result in permutations and entanglements that reach a point of hysteria before everyone gets their just deserts
It’s a truly uproaring farce that the Daily Express described as “an evening of non stop laughter”. So if that’s the kind of evening you want or need (and who doesn’t ) got along to the Thameside Theatre
You can see how Gilbert Bodley (Wayne Prince ) drags his innocent assistant Arnold Crouch (John Scowen) deeper and deeper into his desperate efforts to seduce the exotic Janie Mcmichael ( Karen Reeves)with a free fur coat This is right under the nose of her casino owning husband(Mike Jones) who really shouldn’t be upset by any one . Then to make things worse, Gilberts wife Maude ( Lisa Chapman )returns early from her holiday
Director Martin Williams is confident that the Thurrock Public will flock to see the show. It’s a great show with laughter from beginning to end and is typical of the ooops vicar where’s yer trousers performance.
This is the first play in Thurrock Courts Players season. Later on in the year they will be producing “They Came from Mars and Landed Outside the Farndale Ave Church Hall in Time for the Townswomens Guild Coffee Morning “ and will be entering two one act plays in local festivals
