THE young people from across Thurrock and surrounding area who participated in Thurrock’s Next Top Boss 2010 will be waiting with baited breath as the winners are announced at the Next Top Boss Award Ceremony on Thursday 13th January 2011 at the Thameside Theatre in Grays.
Gold paralympian Danny Crates will be joining top executives from Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, Lakeside Shopping Centre, RWE npower, Port of Tilbury and the Royal Opera House at the awards.
75 participants have been nominated for the challenge awards – Brand Academy, Destination Thurrock, Green Solutions and Down to Business – as well as individual prizes such as Top Performer, Best Research and Creative Genius.
All of the nominees will be given the chance to apply for apprenticeships and work experience at the top organisations in Thurrock and the lucky winners will be receiving prizes including a week at the UEL Knowledge Dock, laptops, iPads and business suits.
The initiative, which has been created and organised by Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation, with co-funding from Thurrock Council and support from over 30 Thurrock-based organisations, aims to get 17-19 year olds on the career ladder, while promoting Thurrock businesses and the borough.
Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation Chairman, Will McKee said: “Next Top Boss has brought together the top organisations in the borough with some of its most innovative and enterprising teenagers and it is great to see so many people enthusiastic about the competition and Thurrock.
“I am really looking forward to seeing these young people win some fantastic prizes and being given some exciting career opportunities.”
Thursday’s event will be followed by an open exhibition at the Thurrock Centre for Business, George Street, Grays on 31 January between 11am and 6pm.
