Crime in Thurrock: Portfolio holder speaks

AS part of our on-going assessment of the state of the criminal justice system in Thurrock, we interviewed the Portfolio Holder for Public Protecton, cllr Gerard Rice. As Gerard says: “I am not the Chief Constable for Thurrock”. Perhaps that is the expectation of the councillor who is charged with shaping the public protection agenda in the borough.

We stat down with cllr Rice to assess how he sees the criminal justice system in the borough in 2011. He has some very strong views, especially with respect to the imminent closure of Grays magistrates court.

  1. Sorry Gerard, not a very convincing show as portfolio holder. Seems that you are more interested in knocking the Coalition rather than providing answers. It would have been good if we had heard about crime prevention rather than Fire fighting…
