Get the feel good factor!

Beat the winter blues and get the ‘feel good’ factor at the Grays Library, Thameside complex, Orsett Road, Grays, on Saturday 5 February from 11am to 3pm.

The Feel Good Fair brings together different ways you can have some fun, chill out and get information about your health.

Choose from a range of activities on the day – pedal up your own healthy snack on the Smoothie Bike, relax with a free reflexology taster with Holistic Therapist Maureen Huelin, join in with Thurrock’s own Wii Fit club and even borrow and chat to a Living Book – a real person with a real experience of a particular mental health issue.

Did you know that one in four of us will experience some form of mental health problem? As well as books on health, diet, fitness and sport, Thurrock Library Service has collections (funded by NHS South-West Essex) called Mind Matters – recommended self-help books for mild to moderate mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.

Discover how you can find reliable information on health matters by booking a session with Aby Carew (Thurrock Council’s People’s Network Manager (ICT) who will guide you through the NHS Choices website ( HYPERLINK “http://www.nhs.uk” www.nhs.uk).

You can also take time to chat to South West Essex Community Service Health Trainers about health and well-being needs.

Cllr Lynn Worrall, Thurrock Council’s Cabinet member for Community, Culture and Leisure said: “This event touches on very important parts of our everyday lives and offers a great chance for people to get important information and have some fun.

“The well-being of our residents is vital to the council and we will continue to create different ways to access these kinds of services for free, especially in the current economic climate.”

All activities are free and there is a chance to win some ‘feel good’ goodies by exploring the library and entering the prize draw. Bookings are being taken on 01375 413976 for the free reflexology tasters and the NHS Choices Internet sessions. All other activities are drop-in sessions from 11am to 3pm.
