Blue Mini Cooper stolen from Tilbury

POLICE have appealed for information after burglars took a car by using an implement through the letterbox to break in to a house at Tilbury and find the keys.

A distinctive blue Mini Cooper S with two white stripes on the bonnet was taken from the drive of a house at Raphael Avenue between11.30pm on Monday, January 17, 2011 and 4am the following day.

Investigating officer, Pc Adam Goodger, said: “We believe the burglars got in by pushing an implement through the letterbox to open the front door. Once inside they found the car keys in the hallway nearby.

“If you have a double-locking front door, make sure it fully locked from the inside to prevent this sort of crime and make sure car keys are kept well away from the front door.”

Anyone with information about the burglary should contact PC Goodger at Grays police station on 0300 333 4444. He also wants to hear from anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in Raphael Avenue during the times given or from anyone who may have seen the car being driven on local roads early on Tuesday.
