Our sympathy and support goes out to everyone affected by the serious road accident on Southend Road, Stanford le Hope on Monday morning.
Sadly, everyone who lives on or uses this road knows that this was not an isolated incident. We have been asking for some time for safety improvements on this stretch of road, only to be told that the accident statistics do not warrant it. But good safety management is not just about waiting for accidents to happen; it also involves being pro-active and dealing with risks before they lead to tragedy.
Your local Conservative team will shortly be bringing round a questionnaire asking residents for your experiences of ‘near misses’ and unreported incidents. Please do fill in and return yours when it arrives. Our hope is that by collecting this evidence, we can show that road safety improvements are justified and necessary. This not a party political issue, and I know that councillors of all colours will whole heartedly support this action.
