Classy fundraising event

Pupils at a Grays infant school not only didn’t have to wear uniforms on Friday (28 January) they wore fancy dress and helped one of their schoolmates at the same time.

Stifford Clays Infant School in Whitmore Avenue managed to raise over £1,500 on the day and staff are hopeful more will come in later.

Oliver Holmes is seven years old and has Cerebral Palsy. A bright and happy pupil he struggles to keep up with his classmates physically because he suffers from stiffness to one side of his body caused by his condition.

An operation to correct the situation, Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, has a 100 per cent success rate, but is not available in this country.

For more information, contact Oliver’s mum, Claire, by email at oliverholmes.sdr@googlemail.com, or ccoholmes@blueyonder.co.uk
