Citizens Advice loses workers today

JUST as news reaches us that staff at homeless charity Open Door have been made redundant, we have also received news that today is the last day that residents in Thurrock can receive independent housing advice from the Citizen Advice Bureau.

YT understands that Thurrock Council have taken the advice process back “in-house”.

Although, at the moment, there are no job implications, it does mean that the out-reach service in Chadwell St Mary supplied by CAB finishes today as well as putting further stresses on CAB.

CAB bosses believe that there could be a 45% cut in funding nationally. Birmingham’s CAB closes its doors for the last time today.

CAB bosses and council bosses are due to meet today as it is hoped that the transfer of staff will be a smooth process.
