Essex Euro MP Richard Howitt will become national Vice President of the RSPCA this Friday 4 February at a special ceremony at East Winch Wildlife Centre.
Inviting Richard Howitt MEP to become their new Vice President the RSPCA described the Euro MP as “ideal” for the role and someone who would be an advocate for the RSPCA’s policies and campaigns.

David Bowles, Director of Communications at the RSPCA said:
“The RSPCA is delighted that Richard Howitt MEP has agreed to be a Vice President of the RSPCA. This recognises Richard’s long commitment to animal welfare in the European Parliament. It is vital to address animal welfare at a European level as more than 80% of our laws on animals originate in Europe and we look forward to working together in the future to continue to improve animal welfare through the European Parliament.”

“The RSPCA are recognised for their extraordinary work helping animals and I am deeply honoured to accept their invitation be become their vice president.
“Whether it is getting hedgehogs out of a prickly situation, saving a pig’s bacon or ensuring a purrfect end to a cat-astrophe the RSPCA step in.
“In the European Year of Volunteering I hope to meet some of the many volunteers who help with feeding, cleaning and caring for the sick and injured animals. It is fantastic to hear about the great and selfless work going on here in Essex.”
