FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a fire in a yard at Readmans industrial estate, Station Road, East Tilbury on Sunday morning. Initially one appliance was sent to the scene, but on arrival, the officer in charge requested the attendance of an additional appliance to bring extra water to the scene.
At 10:50 hrs, crews reported the fire involved a moderately large pile of wood and rubbish. 50 per cent of the pile was well alight but they made steady progress using one hose reel to bring the fire under control. Foam was also used in firefighting operations.
The incident was dealt with by 11:15 hrs.
The cause of the incident is undetermined.
