Police are appealing for information after a 41-year-old man was injured during an incident at the Railway Tavern, Kings Street, Stanford-le-Hope.

At 10pm on Friday, February 4, during an altercation, two suspects hit the victim from behind, which made him fall to the floor. He was then attacked as he lay on the floor, causing severe cuts to his eye. The victim was taken to hospital, and had ten stitches to the cuts on his eye. He was later discharged from hospital.

Investigating officer, Pc Timothy Hardy-Wallace, said: “This was a nasty attack on this man, who initially had his sight impaired due to the injuries. Thankfully there has been no lasting damage but it clearly could’ve turned out differently. I am certain that someone in the pub that night knows the suspects, and I would appeal to their conscience to come forward and tell us, as their actions could have been life changing for this victim.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Pc Hardy-Wallace at Tilbury police station on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
