Purfleet crash victim named by police

THE MAN killed after he was struck down by a car in Purfleet has been named as local man Darren Maeder

Mr Maeder, 37, worked for more than six years in the Express Newspapers design studio for the group that includes the Daily Star Sunday.

An Express Newspapers spokesman said: “He will be greatly missed.”

Following the fatal collision in Tank Hill Road, Purfleet on Thursday, February 17, around 7.30pm, police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Police from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who saw someone running or walking across that road around this time and also if they saw any vehicle in this location at the same time.

Two people, a man and woman, both in their mid 30s from the Thurrock area have been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and other offences and released on bail until May while enquiries continue.
