Teen victim of attempt robbery at Lakeside

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old boy was subjected to an attempted robbery outside Vue Cinema, Lakeside.

At 5.25pm on Monday, February 21, a suspect approached the victim and demanded his mobile phone. He threw him across a car and punched him in the face, causing a black eye and a broken tooth. Nothing was stolen.

Investigating officer, Pc Paul Gutteridge, said: “Thankfully this type of crime is rare in that area, as it must have been very frightening for this young boy. A man intervened and pulled the suspect away, so thankfully no property was stolen. As it is half term, there may have been a few people that witnessed this. If you did, we need to speak to you.”

The suspect was a black man, aged 16-20, black braided shoulder length hair, wearing a purple polo shirt and a black blazer.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Pc Paul Gutteridge at the Thurrock CID target team on 0300 333 4444 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
