THURROCK UKIP were in ebullient mood today after their party came second in the Barnsley by-election last night.
Members were travelling up to spring conference in Scarborough this afternoon but their thoughts were clearly centred on how the party can progress.
The question is whether they can make an impact in the local elections on May 5th.
Thurrock organiser Tim Aker is playing his card close to his chest.
He said: “We go to Scarborough to reflect on the result. I was in Barnsley and was greatly encouraged by what people were saying on the doorstep.”
UKIP are hopeful that they can field a full slate of candidates on May 5th.
Whether they can make inroads is a moot point but they will have their eyes on a number of seats including Stifford Clays, Stanford West and Aveley.
