FEELINGS were clearly running high at the Seabrooke Rise Community House at the weekend as the residents debated possible plans for Grays Beach Park.

The meeting was fronted by the deputy leader of Thurrock Council, cllr Val Morris-Cook.

Cllr Morris-Cook has describred the Tory plans for the beach as “privatisation”. something the Conservatives hotly dispute.

Whilst, Labour councillor Martin Healy seem to stoke up fears at the meeting that the plans could lead to “other things”.

Community activist and acclaimed novelist, Sharon McGovern spoke passionately about the park at the meeting.

  1. If Labour care so much about Grays Beach Park why did they vote to close down lots of the attractions and sack staff?

Tories and Labour have run this park down by reducing funding and closing attractions. So this is 7 minutes of utter hypocrisy from these Labour politicians.

And is this a place to take your kids when next door a new waste incinerator is going to be built burning household waste. I wouldn’t take my kids to play next to a waste incinerator.

Ask yourself residents why didnt your councillors campaign to stop this waste incinerator? Why didnt they hold public meetings, start a Facebook campaign or raise petitions?

Next to Grays Beach Park you will have a nice shiny new waste incinerator burning waste wood and houshold waste. It might be dressed up as a ‘Green’ powerstation but its really just a waste incinerator in disguise thats being built next to your homes and the beloved Grays Beach Park. This so called jewel in the crown of Thurrock could be a potential toxic health hazard in the future.

I hope the council will provide face masks to the kids playing at this park in the future to protect them from the fumes from the incinerator once its built.
