Busy Time For Chadwell WI

Chadwell- St -Mary WI
President Caryl Taylor welcomed members to our March meeting and a hearty Jerusalem was sung. Speaker for the month Mr Ian Kirby had cancelled at the last minute due to ill health, so a Beetle Drive was arranged for the evening’s entertainment.

This fast moving and often very funny game has in the past created much enjoyment and friendly competitiveness among the ladies – this playoff proved to be just as good. After 12 rounds of frantic dice throwing, moving between teams and some very suspect drawings of beetles, our victorious pair received a well-earned round of applause and prize. Our losers also received their booby prize amidst much heckling and good natured banter.

Chadwell St Mary is a very busy and active WI and this month members were informed of the many trips and events that we are planning, or that are open to them through the Essex Federation of WIs.

These include:
Thames group spring meeting at Tilbury Community Centre on 26th April
Thameside theatre trip “They came from Mars” 27th May
Southend Operatic “Half-a-sixpence” 11-14 May
Broadstairs Dickens festival trip 20th June
Beth Chato gardens WI guided tours.
Titsey house and gardens tour
Hatfield Broadoak walking tour
Learn to crochet workshops
Poetry competition

We meet on the last Wednesday of the month at Emmanuel Church, Chadwell-St- Mary from 7pm, all ladies welcome.
