Aveley Village Youth Council visit House of Commons

Aveley Village Youth Council headed for the lights on Monday 11th April. As part of their training to become better spokespeople for the young people at the Aveley Youth & Community Centre, the young council members visited the Houses of Parliament.

In a visit arrange by local Councillor Amanda Prevost and MP Jackie Doyle-Price, members of the Youth Council had a tour of the home of british democracy and gained an insight in how government works. Mind you it wasn’t all hard work. As they day was sunny and they had a bit of time on their hands, they also got to see Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and other London sights.

The Aveley Village Youth Council meets every other Tuesday at the Aveley Youth & Community Centre. They bring the views and opinions of the centre members (now over 100) to the youth workers and trustees. They also help to run the youth centre and worked to set up the rules for the members at the Youth Centre.

Who knows, perhaps one of these young people might end up as a local councillor? local MP? Prime Minister? Only the future will tell but they have a good start.

You can find out more about the activities of the Youth Centre or anything else Aveley Village Community Forum is doing on their website at or even pop in and say hello.
