Needham lose, leaving Rocks at the edge

NEEDHAM Market were beaten 2-1 by Wingate and Finchley last night. The result leaves East Thurrock now needing just four points from their last four games to secure promotion to the Ryman Premier.

Rocks boss John Coventry is remaining steadfast. He said: “Possible promotion will not be decided on Saturday and we have to focus on that. We play Brentwood Town, one of the fellow promotion hopefuls and we have to concentrate on that and that alone.

Needham don’t play on Saturday. If the Rocks win on Saturday then the key point may be away at Redbridge on Saturday April 23rd.

Thurrock were also watching the vidiprinter last night. Fellow strugglers in the Blue Square Bet South Maidenhead secure three vital points in a 1-0 victory against Eastleigh.

Maidenhead come to Ship Lane on Saturday. Thurrock are just one place above the relegation zone whilst Maidenhead are one place behind them. This game is a real sixpointer. If Fleet win this they could be safe. Lose this and the last three games of the season, all against high flyers could be a real struggle.
