A Taste For Song

Royal Opera House Education in Thurrock invites locals to a Community Chorus Taster Session

Royal Opera House Education in Thurrock is offering local residents a special taster session for the new Thurrock Community Chorus to see if singing might be for them. Led by the newly appointed Chorus Director, Jeremy Haneman, you will also have the opportunity to meet the rest of the team. The taster evening will take place at Chafford Hundred Campus, Mayflower Road, Chafford Hundred on Monday 9 May from 7.15pm.

The newly formed Thurrock Community Chorus already has more than 50 members and has given its first public performance. On Sunday 3 April, the Chorus sang choruses from Bizet’s most famous opera, Carmen, at the Water City Festival in Trinity Buoy Wharf , East London.

The Thurrock Community Chorus will work on a variety of musical styles and include some works from The Royal Opera repertory. The Chorus is open to all people, aged eight and over living in Thurrock . Both experienced singers and those with no previous experience are most welcome. The Chorus will meet weekly during term time and offer an opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy the benefits of singing. Joining the Chorus will develop individuals’ singing skills and extend their abilities and confidence.

Rehearsals for the Thurrock Community Chorus continue weekly from Monday 9 May. A termly subscription applies to all members but the taster session is free. If you would like more information about joining the Community Chorus, please contact Shaun Bajnoczky on 01708 892 823 or email us at getinvolved@roh.org.uk.
