Bill Robinson reports from The Rushmoor Stadium.….
With relegation a real threat Thurrock came out looking to preserve a clean sheet but a win was the only option if they were to survive depending on the result a Maidenhead.
Thurrock started well and looked determined to get the result but it was the home side that got the opening goal in the seventh minute when Kezie Ibe went passed Chris Bush wide on the right his cross found Bradley Bubb unmarked who headed home from close range.
Farnborough increased their lead in the 15th minute when they won a corner on the left, the corner was short and the Thurrock players flat footed as the ball came over it was Michael Malcom who headed the ball onto the bar and just over the goasl line.
Thurrock came flying out of the box at the start of the second half and immediately reduced the deficit when Paul Olima rose above all to head into the corner of the net.
Farnborough regained there two goal advantage on 61 minutes when Thurrock failed to clear and Bradley Bubb drove home a fine shot from 20yards.
As the game flowed end to end it was Thurrock that once again reduced the home teams lead when Joao Carlos broke away just inside his own half he fed the ball out wide where Jamie Richards drove home a fine goal from 25 yards.
Thurrock showed great character trying to get the result but unfortunately the goals diddn’t come despite good efforts from Richards, Hockton and Murphy.
Thurrock finish in the relegation zone and therefore it looks like they will be relegated to the Ryman Premier league next season.
