Aveley relegated but go down fighting

Ryman Premier

Hastings United 2 v 3 Aveley

AVELEY returned to what many see as their natural level as they were relegated back down to the Ryman Div One North despite a valiant away victory against Hastings United.

The result saw both teams on the same points but Hastings had a far superior goal difference.

Aveley grabbed two goals early in the second half. Ryan Stalley grabbed the opener and Sherwin Stanley doubled the lead with a header.

Boss Carl Griffiths wasn’t going down without a fight but a touch of handbags in the managers dugout saw him banished to the stand.

Hastings substitute Arron Hopkinson and attacker Josh Jirbandey headed home to put the game back on an even keel but ever reliable Kenny Beaney grabbed the winner.
