Turf turned at National Skills Academy

IF THERE was ever evidence that the regeneration agenda was turning from “idealisation to realisation” the it was the gathering this week of the great and the good to see the first turning of the turf for the National Skills Academy in Purfleet.

Perhaps it was Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle Price who summed up the positive aspects of the academy as she pointed out that instead of sending our Thurrock students to university to study questionable subjects and be saddled with debt, here was an opportunity to learn key skills in a vibrant industry.

YT captured key addresses by Arts Council Director Andrea Stark, Thurrock Council’s chief executive, Graham Farrant and many others on a vital day for the borough.
