Marathon run through Davy Down

22 stage 220 mile charity relay run starting at Hampton Court Palace and finishing on the Thames at near Teddington Lock. 40 teams of 11 run both days over a scenic and historic course. The relay travels like a huge carnival around the outside of London with every stage as an individual race – all runners start a stage as the first runner from the previous stage finishes.

Stage 14 goes through Thurrock and will be on the Sunday morning. Starts at the Thames Chase Forest Centre at 9.44am and passes through Cranham Marsh, Corbets Tey, Belhus Country Park, Aveley and along the Mardyke Way to finish at Davy Down – first runner – at 10.30am.

Free to spectators, but teams can enter on the relay website for £220 per team.

All profits are given to charities or to help mark a new long distance path called the London Green Belt Way.
