BRITISH Speedway fans will make their way to the Arena-Essex Raceway this Friday with Great Britain one up in the three match Ashes series against Australia and with every chance of taking the series win.
After a pulsating meeting at Poole on Wednesday, which saw the home nation take a two point victory by 46-44 the young Brits are determined to seal victory on Friday in Essex , with the team responding to the return of popular manager Neil Middleditch to head the more highly rated Australian team.
A clearly delighted Middleditch commented immediately after the side’s victory at Poole stating: “Tonight was a terrific meeting and a brilliant effort from the boys with National pride shining through and I am sure we have more of the same to come on Friday at the Arena-Essex Raceway where we will be going all out for victory.”
With the half term school holidays in full flow the Lakeside Promotion have slashed kids admission prices to just £1 for all children aged between 6 and 16 years inclusive with the first 100 receiving a free Union Jack flag. Kids under the age of 6 will, as usual, be admitted free of charge provided they are accompanied by a paying adult.
The Hammers Team Owner Stuart Douglas is looking forward the Friday’s 2nd Test Match at the home of the Hammers and commented: “It’s a great honour for our Club to have such a prestigious meeting and with Wednesday’s result we are all counting down the hours for what could well be one of the highlights of our tenure here at the Arena-Essex Raceway. I hope the fans will come out in great numbers to create a partisan atmosphere and help the Great Britain team to victory.”
The Arena-Essex Raceway is situated on the Essex side of the Dartford River Crossing just off Junction 30/31 of the M25 adjacent to the Thurrock Services and Speedway fans will be able to purchase their tickets on the night from the pay booths or in advance from the Club’s online shop, which can be accessed via the Club’s website at www.lakesidehammers.com
The Grand Parade of riders will take place at 7.45pm followed by the opening race at 8pm.
