Jake wins award in apprentice contest

Jake Beasley, 20, of Grays achieved third place recently in the SkillELECTRIC 2011 Southern Heats held at Barking & Dagenham College.

Jake, who recently completed his Electrical Apprenticeship with BCS Electrical of Tilbury, was put forward for the competition by South Essex College where he has been studying for the last 4 years and attained the coveted prize of Apprentice of the Year.

“Jake has done really well over the term of his apprenticeship with us”, said Mr. Ross Bannister, Senior Partner of BCS Electrical. “ He is now the third of our Apprentices who have been awarded ‘Apprentice of the Year’ at South Essex College, so we must be doing something right!”

“Unfortunately, due to certain decisions made by our local council who have placed the majority of their Repair Contracts with national companies from outside the Borough, we have been unable to maintain our Apprenticeship Training Programme but are proud of our record in training up over 20 local apprentices in the last 10 years”

The competition which drew candidates from all over the South of England examined skills in Electrical Installations and Jake now has the chance to take part in the National Finals which will be held in Leeds in September.
