Stanford Festival this Sunday

The Hope Committee’s 13th STANFORD FESTIVAL kicks off this Sunday in Stanford le Hope – JULY 3rd – at 9.30 am with a stirring Open Air Service led by Spectrum Brass and the Gateway Peoples Centre worship band. This year the theme is Community in the 1940’s and everything in the town centre will reflect that theme.

The Sutherland Pipers will lead the crowds to The Green to hear the welcoming ceremony and St Luke’s Sunshine walkers (raising funds for the Hospice) will parade around the town. Over 100 stalls and displays will be on show including an exhibition for Help For Heroes, a bible display, a rock climbing wall, giant bouncy castles, a fifteen foot balloon spitfire and a range of military vehicles including a gigantic Abbott Tank!

This year there are no less than THREE stages showcasing lots of local talent.

The French Resistance will be on the streets and black market operators will be in evidence selling 1940’s wares. Fire Engine and Police simulators will be entertaining the visitors and displays of 1940’s culture will abound. Pin grandma’s wartime recipes to the washing line! Get Jan to take your baby’s picture in the photo competition! Have your face painted! Get down to some pavement art!

Come and see the schools art competition! Visit the local shops and make some new friends. Buy a specially commissioned 2012 STANFORD COMMUNITY CALENDAR (limited edition!)

As usual there will be lots of food, lots of entertainment and lots of fun!

Bring the family and have a great day out!
