Grays Athletic “Saviour” passes away

Grays Athletic Football Club have announced the passing away of Mr Bryan Coker MBE.

Bryan was a long standing shareholder and director of the club, and had been involved with GAFC for many years. In 1982, he was instrumental in securing a future for the club as he was able to persuade its patron, the late Ron Billings, to submit what turned out to be the highest bid to purchase The Recreation Ground.

In 1995, Bryan, as Chairman of the governing body of Palmers’ College received his MBE for services to education.

In July 2008, YT interviewed Bryan before a pre-season friendly between Grays Athletic and Charlton Athletic.
