Bill Robinson reports from Ship Lane…..
Thurrock started their pre season programme with the visit of BSBS playoff winners Ebbsfleet United.
The visitors started the brighter but the new look Thurrock side fielding six new debutants created the better chances on the break.
The first half remained goalless but Lee Boylan did have a half chance in the 33rd minute just dragging the ball wide of the far post from 10 yards.
Both teams remained unchanged at the start of the second half, but Thurrock were now in the ascendancy and were looking the more threatening.
Manager Robbie Garvey decided time to make some changes, when on fifty minutes he replaced Lee Boylan with David Knight.
The impact was immediate, only on the pitch for sixty seconds, David Knight found space wide on the left just inside the visitor’s box and struck a firm shot into the far corner of the net.
Thurrock looked good for the lead but gradually Ebbsfleet started to put some moves together and tested keeper Craig Holloway.
A number of substitutes were made by both managers as per the normal in these games and it proved a positive move for Ebbsfleet when on 72 minutes Malvin Kamara latched onto a loose ball in the Thurrock box he fired in a low shot which beat everyone to level the scores.
Nine minutes later another Ebbsfleet sub Jacob Erskine was in the right place to put the ball over the goaline after some defensive errors allowed Craig Stone to steal the ball away and provide the perfect pass for Erskine.
