Good work out for Blues but they go down to Urchins

Grays Ath 1 v 0 AFC Hornchurch

THIS TIME last year, Grays fans were just happy to still be a club. Now the fans turned up to see how their promising squad would shape up.

On a perfect looking pitch (Well done to East Thurrock), the Blues began by stroking the ball around. Harry Agombar looked fit and the team looked to play expansive football wherever they could.

The first clear chance of the game came in the 21st minute when a wonderful run from midfield saw Eljay Worrall in space but his shot was well saved by the Urchin’s keeper.

A minute later, a fine cross saw Sigere just fail to get a direct header in.

But for all their hard work, Hornchurch opened the scoring with Frankie Curly scoring from close range.

Grays came back. They had a fair shout for a pen and Agombar went close a minute later.

All change at half time and Grays continued on the offensive. Early chances but Hornchurch defence was very well organised.

Both teams made further changes in a free flowing game that as a training exercise was well worth it.
