Essex County Fire and Rescue Service have formally handed the management of Rio Recycling back to the site’s management team and closed the incident.
The incident was closed at 16:22hrs yesterday – August 3, 2011 – and fire crews will no longer be attending the site.
Since July 16 crews have been making regular revisits to the site to monitor the fire as it continued to burn.
The incident commander decided yesterday that because the entire perimeter of the fire has been excavated and no longer presents a risk of fire spread the service will no longer need to attend.
Divisional Officer Neil Fenwick, Thurrock and Brentwood Community Commander, said: “The fire no longer presents a risk of spreading so the service has closed the incident.
“We will continue to monitor the situation over the next few days to ensure there are no problems.”
Why has TBC and the EA ignored all complaints and concerns about the air pollution from this fire?
Why did Rio have large deliveries of recyling waste at 1 and 2 in the morning?
