WITH LESS than two weeks before the big kick off, Grays boss, Hakan Heyrettin is quietly pleased with the progress that the Blues have made in the pre-season friendlies.
Grays Ath have played teams across the league structures but have been competitive in all the games whilst trying to give as many players as possible a run out.
Speaking to YT, Hakan said: “I am 90 per cent sure of my starting eleven. There are still one or two decisions to make and perhaps one of two players to come in.
“Fitness is good even though not every player has had 90 minutes but once the season kicks in the games will come thick and fast.
Asked if he would have a challenge keeping all the players happy, Hakan replied: “We would look to get the squad down to 18 whilst keeping a reserve squad as well.”
Bradley Thomas is suspended for three games so there may need to be a reshuffle at the back.
Ryman football pundits who have seen many of the “favourites” in pre-season have told YT that no-one is particularly impressing just now and it may well be a few weeks into the season before the contenders really show their credentials.
Grays Athletic first league match is at home versus Ware on Saturday August 20th.
