Come talk to council chiefs

TOP Thurrock councillors will be out and about on Wednesday, 14 September evening and they want to hear from Thurrock people.

The next Thurrock’s Future — Let’s Talk meeting with members of the council’s cabinet and senior officers will be at Orsett Primary School in School Lane starting at 7.30pm prompt.

Residents are asked to send in questions to councillors and officers. Questions can be asked on the night, or anyone wanting to ask a question in advance can email them via www.thurrock.gov.uk/democracy/cabinet, write to Let’s Talk, Communications Department, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM27 6SL or call 01375 652476 by Wednesday, 31 August if possible.

Previous Thurrock’s Future — Let’s Talk meetings have been held at Stanford-le-Hope, South Ockendon, Tilbury and Little Thurrock.

Council Leader, Cllr John Kent, said: “We said a year ago that we wanted regular meetings ‘out and about across the borough’ and this is the latest.

“The meetings serve a dual purpose in that they give residents a chance to question politicians and senior council officers face-to-face on any subject they choose.

“They also ensure that officers and councillors travel to different locations around the borough and meet local people.”

Cllr Kent added: “These meetings are becoming increasingly popular. We had around 100 people at Tilbury and would like to see the same in Orsett next month.”
