Walton Casuals 0 v 4 Grays Athletic
The first half was a somewhat ill-tempered affair exacerbated by an off the peg “look at me” referee that seem to proliferate at this level.
Grays were never under pressure throughout the first half. For all the bluster from Walton, Bradley Thomas and Junior Baker were hardly troubled.
Grays dominated midfield with stylish input from Harry Agombar and new signing from Harlow, Dave Cowley. The star of the first half was Louis Dennis whose movement was excellent however there was a lack of cutting edge up front and so no real chances to speak of.
Grays turned up the heat in the second half. Dennis carved out a fine chance in the 48th minute that was well smothered by the keeper. He went close with a thirty yard chip on the 55th minute but is seemed just a matter of time.
Sure enough, Jean-Michel Sigere was nudged in the box in the 63rd minute and the referee pointed to the spot. Joe Sweeney made no mistake. Three minutes later, a lovely through ball from sub Jason Fontaine found Harry Agombar in space who coolly slotted the ball home from close range.
Hakan poured the subs on and the game became an effective training session as Grays looked very comfortable. Jared Small produced a dazzling dribble and shot in the 80th minute. You started to wonder who would be the best eleven to start next week. Jared reinforced his claim with a tap in from close range after good team work four minutes from time.
And just to reinforce to the other clubs in the league, Danny Bunce made it four-nil in the 88th minute with a piledriver from 30 yards that may have been deflected but he will no doubt claim.
