GCSE 2011: William Edwards: Exams cap an outstanding year

JUST A FEW months ago, William Edwards School and Sports College celebrated attaining an outstanding report from Ofsted. To cap it all, they have improved their number of pupils who gain 5 or more GCSEs at A* to C to 70% up from 67% last year and up 14% from two years ago.

The result pays tribute to the final year of headteacher John King and deputy headteacher Ralph Henderson but it also heralds in the reign of Steve Munday who has steered the school since Easter and in a quiet but effective way has placed the school at second in the league table.

Mr Munday won’t want to rest there and will see next month as the dawn of a new great age at the school.
