IT IS over three years since Aveley paratrooper Nicky Mason was killed on duty in Afghanistan.
But for the family, the memory burns brighter than ever.
That is why they have raised over £1,800 for army charities.
Former Aveley Comprehensive pupil Nicky was killed in an explosion on September 13, 2008, during an operation in Kajaki.
Since then his father, Dennis Mason has raised money for both the Afghanistan Trust and the Parachute Regiment Charity.
There will be a memorial disco at the Aveley Sports and Social Club tonight.
