THE TRAVELLERS who pitched up in Tilbury during the week still remain in the town.
On Wednesday they were stationed in the car park in Calcutta Road which is used as a Friday market.
After negotiations withe the police and Thurrock Council officials, they moved on. But that still meant that the market had to be cancelled with many traders losing valuable trade.
Some traders moved down to near Commonwealth House but trading was decidedly slower.
Meanwhile, the travellers moved on to a disused car park near to to Asda.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We are in discussions with the travellers as well as the site owners.
“We are following our usual procedures in resolving the situation.”
