Breathe Easy Thurrock, a support group for people with lung disease in the local area, celebrated its 2nd birthday on Tuesday 6th September.
Breathe Easy members came together at Cowdray Hall, West Thurrock to mark the occasion and enjoyed a birthday cake and wine & cheese tasting.
Breathe Easy Thurrock is just one of over 200 groups across the country, which are all part of the British Lung Foundation’s support network, ‘Breathe Easy’. One person in seven in the UK is affected by lung disease. In Thurrock, that would mean over 20 000 people.
The group meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month from 2-4pm at Cowdray Hall, London Road, West Thurrock, RM20 3BJ.
Claire Battye, Development Officer at the British Lung Foundation, says “Living with lung disease can be a frightening and isolating experience but Breathe Easy Thurrock provides a great resource for local people and can offer them advice, information and the support of others who understand their needs.”
Barry Chawner, chairman of the group, says ‘Our birthday party was a great way to celebrate everything we have achieved over the past 2 years. We are a very friendly group and welcome anyone affected by a lung condition, including friends, family and carers.’
