Football: Thurrock sink back with disappointing defeat

Havant & Waterlooville 3 v 0 Thurrock

Blue Square South

Bill Robinson Reports from Westleigh Park……

After a win and a draw Thurrock traveled to Westleigh park hopeful of picking up more points to help them pull away from the drop zone.

Unfortunately reality kicked in and in what was a poor performance Thurrock failed to make any impression on the game and the home side took full advantage.

The game was struggling to entertain as both teams failed to string two passes together but the Home side looked more dangerous and had the better chances.

Just before the break Havant broke the deadlock to go in front, a move that started down the right flank saw Wes Fogen turn his defender cut inside and drove a fine left footed shot into the far corner of the net.

HT 1-0

Havant wasted no time after the restart to extend their lead, in the 47th minute they won a corner on the right, the ball was driven in and young Ryan Woodford was running in unmaked and had a free header the flew into the back of the net.

Glenn Poole had a great chance to reduce the deficit less than 60 seconds later after Alex Osborns shot came back off the post but Pooles effort went high and wide.

Havant continued to dominate the game and despite Manager Robbie Garvey changing the formation putting three up front Thurrock still failed to get a break through.

The home side sealed the win in the 87th minute when Wes Fogden scored his second and Havants third when he broke away wide on the right as he cut inside Ben Bowditch attempted to block his shot but the ball looped high and over the keepers head into the back of the net.
