Councillors back “Stop to shop” at Little Thurrock

LITTLE Thurrock Councillors have given a cautious welcome to the possibility of stop and shop parking bays being introduced to shops in the Broadway Little Thurrock.

Cllr Rob Gledhill says “I understand that the Broadway is the only row of shops in Essex that does not have dedicated parking so hope that a solution can be found. I have asked a good number of times for this to be investigated and have even identified sites, only to be told that it is impractical. I have also asked for more long and short term parking to be identified for the shops in Lodge Lane.”

Fellow Cllr Tom Kelly added “Of course any improvement will be welcome and could help reduce the traffic jams on The Broadway and Dock Road.

“My concern is that it will come with parking meters which will potentially drive customers away.”

  1. So Cllr Gledhill thinks there is space along the Broadway for parking bays. Clearly he doesn’t know the area. As for ‘traffic jams’ Cllr Kelly, they only really exist when the M25/A13 is blocked and all of the heavy lorries illegally pass by the weight limit sign on the Broadway on their way to the stupid Grays town centre one way system.
