THURROCK Asian Association is celebrating National Older People’s Day on Sunday 2nd October, 2011 from 4 to 6 pm at the Asian Resource Centre, 35 Clarence Road, Grays.
This is fifth annual UK Older People’s Day which is celebrated through out the country on 1st October.
Thurrock Asian Association is holding this event for the first time to highlight the achievements of older people and celebrating age. There are more than 35,000 older people living in Thurrock. Out of these there may be over 500 older men and women coming from ethnic minorities in Thurrock.
Many of these older residents are not taking full advantage of the services provided for them by various statutory and voluntary bodies.
To create awareness amongst these older residents about these services, we are inviting development officers from the Age Concern UK; Thurrock CVS and the TRUST to participate in this event.
The information and advice will be given about the services available to older people from the COUNCIL, NHS and Various Voluntary Organisations.
Every one interested is welcome to participate and socialise.
