THOUSANDS of local people enjoyed T-Fest 11 in July and now they all have the chance to let the world know what a great weekend it was.
Judges from the National Festival Awards were invited along to see for themselves and now the festival has been placed among others for an online poll for fans’ favourite.
UK Festival Awards have told Thurrock Council that they had “over 100 judges visiting hundreds of festivals throughout the season, and they’ve been very impressed with the standard of events across the UK”.
They go on: “Now it’s time for public voting to open for Fan’s Favourite Festival, as well as Best Overseas Festival, Headline Performance Of the Year, Best Breakthrough Artist and Anthem of the Summer.”
Voting runs until 10 October and finalists and winners will be announced at the UK Festival Awards ceremony at London’s Roundhouse on Tuesday, 15 November.
Cllr Lynn Worrall, the council’s portfolio holder for culture, said: “Like thousands of other local people I thoroughly enjoyed T-Fest, it just gets better year-on-year.
“I’m calling on each and every one of the people who came along – whether it was just for a few hours or for every single minute – to say ‘thank you’ by spending a few minutes online and registering their vote for Fans’ Favourite.”
She added: “I know T-Fest can’t compete yet with the big national and international festivals and at the moment we’re not trying to. But T-Fest highlights the best of Thurrock, putting our local artists on the same stage as those with national recognition as well as providing local organisations with an opportunity to showcase their services.
“This is a chance for us to put T-Fest 11 up among the best!”
