POLICE are investigating an arson attack in South Ockendon that destroyed a mobile home and property surrounding it.
The attack occurred at 11pm last night (Wednesday) in Grange Farm, Mollands Lane.
Fire crews were alerted after thick black smoke was seen over the area of Grange Farm. Two appliances were sent to the scene, but at 23:00 hrs, the officer in charge requested an additional applies for water supplies.
Firefighters reported that the blaze involved a derelict caravan, tyres and an area of scrubland of around 10 metres, which were well alight.
Firefighting operations were hampered by the fact that nearest access to the fire was some 400 metres away.
The incident was dealt with by 00:07 hrs.
The cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate.
