A road closure in West Thurrock will be needed this weekend as National Grid engineers begin vital refurbishment work to overhead power lines in the area.
The closures are needed to erect safety scaffolding over the A13 to protect the road while the work takes place.
National Grid Overhead Line Project Manager Peter Bullen explained,
“The road closure will let us carry out this work as quickly and safely as possible. This essential power line upgrade will help make sure that people in the South East continue to enjoy a safe and secure electricity supply in future years.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this closure may cause and we will do our best to minimise any disruption,” added Peter.
Details of the road closure:
The A13 will be closed where it crosses the A1306 at Wennington from midnight on Saturday 15 October until 5am on Sunday 16 October 2011
An additional closure may be required to complete the work from midnight on Saturday 22 October until 5am on Sunday 23 October 2011
All closures have been agreed with the local authority and a signed diversion will be in place.
Traffic management signs and advanced warning notices will be posted in the area.
The work is being carried out by the Electricity Alliance East, a partnership between National Grid and Balfour Beatty.
