Former mayor, cllr Joy Redsell reported by police for alleged theft from council offices.

THE FORMER mayor of Thurrock Council, cllr Joy Redsell has been reported by Essex Police for an alleged theft.

In a short statement this morning, an Essex Police spokesperson said:

“A 64-year-old woman has been reported for theft by an employee.

“She will be summoned to appear before court at a later date.”

YT understands that the alleged time of the offence was 2007; the alleged location was the council offices in New Road, Grays and that the alleged theft refers to a framed photograph.

The Thurrock Conservative group have also issued a statement.

Leader of the group, cllr Phil Anderson said:

“I have been informed by council officers today that a member of the Conservative group on Thurrock Council has been reported for an alleged offence.

“As required by group rules, I have temporarily suspended the member concerned pending the outcome of the investigations.

“Both the group and the individual involved are co-operating fully with the police in their inquiries.”

Thurrock Council stated: “We cannot comment as this is a matter for the police.”
